Day Six – It Is Just A Number – Should I Go Back To Being Number One Sub, Meee!

“Wow!” I done so well yesterday; Another successful weight loss day; another successful red wine drinking evening. After my wine I had the spare dinner. I make up more smaller portions, so I’m not eating a big dinner, then eat extra in the evening, I eat the spare dinner instead, which is healthy free food {On the slimming world extra easy plan} I tend to get the munches after drinking, so I planned a head. I also had my healthy B choice & A choice, porridge, made with skimmed milk & a banana…There was not a sweet, cake, biscuit, chocolate bar in sight…

It is day six. I have almost done my first week…It is almost my one week weigh day. At my half week check {Which I won’t bother doing again} I had gone from 15st4.25lbs to 15st1.75lb a loss of 2.5 lbs…If I stay the same from that weight, I will be happy. Otherwise what ever I lose I will be ecstatic…

As I was saying to my friend last night. It is just a number. My three daughters done their measurements. Amy had her first baby 9 months ago. She is back to her pre baby weight of 9st…her waist measured 31″, but to me she looks slim & shapely. Though you think ’31 inch’ OMG!…Chloe thinks she’s too skinny & wants to gain weight, her waist measures 26″…So technically the aspired for size, well for some girls smaller, but Chloe has got a lovely figure…

Jade is going through the ‘Needing to lose weight’ phase of her life…but…Its difficult, because she avoids vegetables like the plague, thinks healthy smoothies are YUK!…She is Autistic, so lots of food textures put her off. I try to explain that fresh meat is no different to eating processed meat. That if you eat the food all mixed together it taste good & you don’t taste the individual veg…Maybe I should blend healthy food into a paste & put it on a pizza, lol…Mind you she would spot the difference. I am proud of her for giving up the sugary fizzy drinks…

Basically…As I was saying ‘It is just a number’…I am going to go by my clothes, how I look & how I feel…I have got a big bag of so called size 14 {Liars! nearer 12} I set my self another long term ‘Reached my desired size’ goal; to go back to the scene/parties I used to go to for a decade, as a slim, attractive ‘Newbie, again’…Just to show those jealous %^&&*%%…The nasty ones who drove me out, caused me to lose my confidence…

Okay! I lost my own confidence. The gossiping, back stabbing, jealousy, nasty bitchiness got to me. I was there as a sub, to play, I played with lots of men, with out having to brat, or attention seek, they came to me, we chatted, to the best of my introvert ability. I am no group person, I am very much a independent, individual, who knows her own mind. I don’t try to fit in, or try to kiss up. So I am not clique friendly. I am friendly, usually to the non clique peeps…

Anyway. As I was saying. They are all fatter, uglier, frumpier, still attention seeking, still a clique. Still more enhanced in the behaviour…Basically a bunch of emotionally insecure %&&&&^&&**^&^…

Oops! My bitter is showing, lol…

I am going to go back. I might change my name, get a new account, start a fresh, that way I can step back in & do what I done for years, ignore, rise above, put a smile on my face, have fun with the genuine, nice peeps. I doubt they will recognise me, they’re too full of their own importance. The scene I was in was ‘Ego fuelled’…Why do I want to go back to it? Because I enjoyed it. I could kiss up, so I can fit in with the clique, but…I can’t bring myself to be a smarmy, fake person. Love me, hate me, like me, dislike me ‘Fair enough’ just leave me alone to be me…

I suppose it reads like I done something to deserve it, I was just as bad. Nope! Hand on heart. I can honestly say I done nothing to deserve it. Other then being a introvert who does not kiss up. I am not anti social, I am just anti fake. I prefer conversation over small talk, I am polite, I am approachable, I was just there to have fun with the men, I was not there to join in with all the women. Which is not popular with the women, lol…

As my Ex Dom said…’Women want more attention from other women’…I think he was right. Where as I did not want attention from other women. So I gave them no attention. In fact…As my husband say’s…I am like no other woman, I neither seek attention or give attention. Maybe I’m too boring, not feisty enough ‘Have no personality’ ‘Hard work’…Actually if someone talks to me, cuts the unapproachable, resting bitch face, I am friendly, I enjoy a good natter…but I can’t be arsed to kiss up to seek approval…Jeeze!

Nuff said for now…

Mind you…One more thing…Am I setting myself up to enter more crappy, confident knocking, believing that it will be just as enjoyable as it was before? I dare say I will go with my heart, gut & head, then do the right thing…

I had better get ready to go out. Chloe has got an interview for a apprenticeship…

This diet. This weight loss journey. I am SO! going to succeed…I feel quite excited. I might become a switch. Though I am very sub {In play} I am strong minded. I believe most introverts are strong minded, independent individuals. I embrace my INFJ personality…

Day Five – Dinner Time – Syn’s Update…

I done my 30 minutes Wii fit + on an empty stomach ‘No pain!’…Hot & sweaty, yes…I done island view Wii cycling, which is 27 flags. The chicken flapping wossy, advanced, I warmed up with the calculator game, as usual. I also done jogging, over took my doggy guide, so had a new guide which took me off on a different route. I opened a new route as well…

I am just cooking dinner. Turkey mince, onion, peppers, mixed veg, Spanish chicken cooking sauce, with rice. All free except the sauce, which is 4 syn’s per quarter jar, I am having a third of the jar, so I’m counting it as 5.5 syn’s…

My syn update is…

83.5 syn’s + 7.5 = 91 syn’s… – 7 syn’s = 84 syn’s – 5.5 syn’s = 78.5 syn’s – 27 syn’s = 51.5 syn’s – 2.5 syn’s = 49 syn’s – 8 syn’s = 41 syn’s

…It is red wine evening this evening…

Day Five – I leapt Over My First Obstacle…

Whew! an amazingly fantastically successful day four…There was a time when it could have been a unsuccessful day on my weight loss journey, but I got myself through it. I am so proud of myself {Gives myself a pat on the back}

My last mistake was to not PUSH! myself hard enough to get over the obstacles…Which are always going to be there…After regaining all the weight I had lost on my last successful weight loss diet, I stopped trying, because I believed it was pointless even trying, after all, I gained extra weight, extra inches & changed shape, so was worse off then before…Now I am pushing myself forward, facing those fears, crashing through those obstacles…Doing something different…Making the changes which can improve my life, surely that is far better then a cupboard full of snacks…

 

 

I remembered all the reasons I started this journey, I remembered my commitment to improving my health. I read other blogs, which was quite helpful, that ‘synchronicity’ thing…

Mind you it doesn’t help that I went to bed at 7am & got up at 10.30am…Not good!…I am going to carry on fasting to 13pm & do my 30 minutes Wii fit + exercise on an empty stomach…

“Huh! Mum’s having 3 dinners tonight”…Feck off!…NOT HELPING! I get that maybe there is a touch of insecurity on his part, after all I might turn into this gorgeous cougar, out every night man hunting…FFS!

I am losing weight to improve my health, so I have a better quality of life. Dieting to lose weight does not involve starvation. I had free food & my healthy B choice, with the rest of my healthy A choice, skimmed milk allowance…Get over it. Or better still keep the comments to yourself, I don’t need the sabotaging digs, joke or no joke, it is not funny to me…Or maybe he would rather I stayed unhealthy…

That narrow minded view that fat people must be lazy, because all you have to do is eat less & move more…If only! There are pesky hormones, our body fighting us…’There is no famine!’ FFS! Then there is cortisol…OMFG! give me a break. So ‘digs!’ at my eating 3 dinners…REALLY! NOT HELPING!!!…Not forgetting the unhelpful, thoughtless comments…

Hmmm! Maybe I should sit my husband down & describe how the slimming world extra easy diet works. Free food, healthy A&B choices, syn’s & that I am intermittent fasting. So my chili, which was made of free lean beef mince, onion, peppers, tomatoes, syn counted chili cooking sauce, free homemade potatoe wedges, two small portions…& porridge, I counted as a healthy B choice, banana ‘free’, skimmed milk a healthy A choice…

Why let it bother me? Because I heard the tone, the context it was said in & it made me feel ‘Ugh!’…I am trying to improve my health, to improve my quality of life. If that makes him feel insecure that I will somehow start going out meeting other men & replace him. What does that say about our 25 year marriage…It is a little glitch in time, but still hurt…

Nuff said about that…

So day four was a virtual rainy ‘splash in the puddles’ gloomy dark cloud day,on my weight loss journey…but…I distracted myself. I actually quite like rainy day’s. I love the sound of rain, especially when I am all warm & dry inside. There are going to be plenty of rainy days on my weight loss journey. I am just going to put up my pink brolly, put on my bright flowery wellies & go for a splash in the puddles, eventually the sun will come out from behind the clouds & give me a beautiful rainbow…

I know. What the feck am I on about…

Seriously though. I am going to embrace the challenges on my weight loss journey, I will see them as an opportunity to learn new tactic’s for the future. I wanted to give in & eat, but if I done that, what would be the point of me starting this journey…I might as well just start planning my own funeral…Because if I don’t do something about my weight & health, I am at risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc…etc…etc…

On that morbid ‘reality check’ note…

Dinner time Day Four – 83.5 Syn’s…

I’m just cooking my dinner. Chili with home made wedges. I was just working out where I am with my syn’s…

86 syn’s starting today, day four…30 minutes Wii fit 150-calories = 7.5 syn’s…86 + 7.5 = 93.5…3 minutes jogging on my mini trampoline {My right hip was hurting to much to do more jogging, I don’t want to over do it, but I do want the health benefits on my lymphatic system} Anyway 21-calories = 1 syn…93.5 + 1 = 94.5 syn’s…

Minus the chili cooking sauce 5.5 syn’s = 89 syn’s…Minus the Mikado milk chocolate biscuits 10 syn’s = 79 syn’s…

I like this way of doing syn’s. Otherwise I felt deprived of any sweet food. Just 15 syn’s each day is enough, but not when you want to keep red wine in your life. Its like ‘I used 27 syn’s, now I’ve blown it, I might as well give up, because no I am not giving up the red wine, what’s the point of living longer if you’re deprived of all the good things in life, like wine, chocolate, cake, biscuits’…Yeah! I’m alive, I’m healthy, I’m there for my loved ones, but……’

Actually red wine has got health benefits. In moderation of course. Ideally I should have 1-2 glasses each night, but I have 4-6 glasses twice a week…One thing though. When I had full blood work done a few years ago, my blood work came back fine. No cholesterol issues, or diabetes issues, or iron deficiency issues. I put that down to the red wine & otherwise healthy diet…The sugar addiction is where I have issues…

Ohh! Hang on…I have been having 8 syn’s when eating my milk chocolate Mikado…So I can have 6 syn’s back…79 + 6 = 85 syn’s…I have take more syn’s from the chili cooking sauce, because I had a 3rd…I’m counting it as 7 syn’s…85 – 1.5 {extra syn’s} = 83.5 syn’s…I have got 3 days left before my syn count starts again…

A Successful Day Two – The Health Benefits Of Intermittent Fasting…

“Yeesss!” A successful day two…Last night I had a twinge of wanting to eat. It was gone 23pm so noooo! I could not eat. I am determined to stick to fasting 12 hours, eating in a 10 hour time window 12:10 intermittent fasting…

1. Intermittent Fasting Changes The Function of Cells, Genes and Hormones

When you don’t eat for a while, several things happen in your body.

For example, your body initiates important cellular repair processes and changes hormone levels to make stored body fat more accessible.

Here are some of the changes that occur in your body during fasting:

Insulin levels: Blood levels of insulin drop significantly, which facilitates fat burning.

Human growth hormone: The blood levels of growth hormone may increase as much as 5-fold . Higher levels of this hormone facilitate fat burning and muscle gain, and have numerous other benefits.

I am taking no notice of the ‘Never skip meals’ wossy. I find intermittent fasting quite easy. Especially if I more or less eat what I want. Slimming world is more of a healthy eating plan, then a diet…but you can do intermittent fasting with out a diet plan. You will lose about 1 lb each week, after the first week, when your body is adjusting…

2. Intermittent Fasting Can Help You Lose Weight and Belly Fat

Which I desperately need…One of the negatives of my last diet. I gained belly fat. I was never apple shaped, I was always hour glass shape. Then after losing 3 stone, through calorie counting 1500-calories each day & walking 2.5-3 hours each day, plus Wii fit +. I regained the 3st + an extra 2st…I believe my massive weight gain & belly fat is caused by an imbalance in cortisol…

Basically eating low calorie is a waste of time…Yes I lost weight, but then my leptin levels dropped, so my bodies fat burning efficiency dropped, then my ghrelin levels raised {Hunger hormone} No wonder all the weight piled on as soon as I started eating more calories again ‘Ugh!’…With slimming world I am eating a healthy balanced diet, which I will keep up for life…

Additionally, intermittent fasting enhances hormone function to facilitate weight loss.

Lower insulin levels, higher growth hormone levels and increased amounts of norepinephrine (noradrenaline) all increase the breakdown of body fat and facilitate its use for energy

So intermittent fasting is a no brainer…

Bottom Line: Intermittent fasting helps you eat fewer calories, while boosting metabolism slightly. It is a very effective tool to lose weight and belly fat.

Well worth the effort. There are longer fasting methods. Where you fast 18:6 or 16:8 or 19:5. I choose to fast for 14 hours & eat over a 10 hour eating time. I don’t cram in as much food as I possibly can in that 10 hours. I have lunch-Dinner-Healthy post exercise snack-supper; stop eating at 23pm. Absolutely NO! eating between 23pm & 13pm…

I basically miss breakfast, which I don’t want anyway & start eating around the time I want to…but…NO! non stop picking at sweet junk. Or eating way past midnight, sometimes around 2-3am…14:10 intermittent fasting works for me. So does the extra easy slimming world plan…

Bottom Line: Studies show that intermittent fasting can reduce oxidative damage and inflammation in the body. This should have benefits against aging and development of numerous diseases.

This has a huge impact on my health. The inflammation & ageing…

Bottom Line: Fasting triggers a metabolic pathway called autophagy, which removes waste material from cells.

 

Bottom Line: Intermittent fasting has been shown to help prevent cancer in animal studies. One paper in humans showed that it can reduce side effects caused by chemotherapy.

Pity my Mum did not try intermittent fasting when she was having chemo, it damaged her liver, but she had cancer for 10-15 years, before it was diagnosed by chance. She was riddled with cancer…

Coffee & Weight Loss – Rebounding The Lymphatic System & Weight Loss…

Drinking more black coffee; I can eat in 45 minutes time…

I have no pain when I am jogging on my mini trampoline, which is great for me, because I get lots of pain in my hips…

All About the Lymphatic System

My Mum died from liver, bowl, cancer in her lymph glands. They never found the primary cancer, those were secondary cancer…{I am no expert} My Mum had cancer for 10-15 years, before they diagnosed her. She would have been 50+ when the cancer started. I am 48 years old. I share my Mum’s genes. I am SO! DETERMINED! to lose all my excess fat & improve my health…

Why would I want to give up on my diet? I would have to have a death wish. How to commit suicide, slowly & painfully “Keep on eating myself to death”…”Put my kids through losing their Mum”…”Put my grand daughter through losing her Nana”…”Put my husband through losing his wife”…Harsh & morbid I know, but that is what it comes down to, for the sake of cutting down on sugary junk & eating healthy foods…

Yesterday. After I done 30 minutes Wii fit + & had a shower. I ACHED! so much, I could hardly concentrate on cooking my dinner…but I forced myself to focus…Cook veg! Cook the fish! NO! salad cream…FOCUS!…Tonight I will be ready for it & exercise earlier, shower earlier, then sit down & relax before cooking dinner…I realised I need to focus when cooking/making my meals. No mindless ‘Just grab!’ something convenient. Or I ache, I am going to treat myself…

I love homemade chips. They are free {Made using fry light}…but I love them with salad cream. I am going to buy light salad cream, or mayonnaise & count the syn value. Which is…

Hellmans light = 297 cal/100g so 15 syns per 100g.

A Successful Day One On My Weight Loss Journey – I Stopped Off At A Pub For Red Wine & A Good Natter With My Friend…

It is something I want to keep in my life, so its not worth cutting it out all together, only to fall off the wagon, down the slippery slope, landing in brambles & stinging nettles…Well…going off my diet…

I done soooo! well. There was no sugar rush. Noooo! bingeing. I had porridge {1x healthy B choice} with skimmed milk {The rest of 1x healthy A choice} with a banana. It was filling, it was tasty, it was sweet. I felt satisfied…

My friend is giving up smoking, so we’re on a similar journey in our life. My addiction is picking. Sweet junk that is…I call it junk, because lets face it, it is not healthy. I worked out that yesterday I burned the equivalent of around 8 syn’s. So I’m not going to start worrying {Not literally, just wondering …How much damage is this red wine doing?} …about syn’s. Especially as you can have 5-15 syn’s & I am using flexible syn’s, aka 105 syn’s per week. My version of slimming world, to suit my lifestyle…

Yesterday I used no other syn’s, then the 15 syn’s towards my red wine. Today I have got 3 syn’s left, after using the other 12 syn’s for the red wine yesterday…technically I burned the equivalent of 8 syn’s, through exercise, so I don’t feel quite so bad, I feel in control. In the past I gave up slimming world mainly because of the syn’s & the fact the food used to be bland & boring…

Then I learned how to cook tasty healthy food. Herbs, spices, garlic, all contributing towards the difference between bland & tasty. I think I might have pasta again for lunch. It was yummy. This time I will add onion, tomatoes & peppers…

So I thought I would be brave & add my very unflattering ‘fattest’ before photo’s…’Yaaakes!’…I’ll put that in my next post. A post about total ‘get over hiding’ & doing something about it, instead of beating myself up emotionally. Which holds me back. I have been holding myself back. Well ‘NO MORE!!!’…

Shopping Day – Day One…

So far today I have fasted from 23pm last night, to 13pm today. All I had in those 12 hours, was water & black coffee. I was going shopping at 14pm, so I had a banana & pasta with herbs, cheese 25g {1xA choice, I could have had 30g} & a small tin of sweet corn, it was quite tasty, I thought it would be too dry & bland. I think the garlic pepper with the mixed herbs helped add taste, also the red leister cheese…

I didn’t want to be hungry when we went shopping. I bought chicken, lean beef mince, turkey mince & 2 packs of birds eye inspiration salmon. I also stocked up on eggs & potatoes, as well as frozen chopped onions & frozen chopped peppers…

When we got home I had a smoothie. Made up of a banana low fat yogurt {Free}Skimmed milk 100mls, I have got 250mls left {1x A choice} & frozen mango. Frozen fruit is really handy for making smoothies. Smoothies are quite filling, they satisfy my sweet tooth & added nutrients…

I am doing the slimming world diet my way, so it is for life. I am doing extra easy, but I am having 2 of each A&B healthy choices…

I am only having water & black coffee until 13pm. Then I will have a banana. We’re going shopping at 14pm. I am going to get batteries for my Wii fit +. Then I will do my Wii fit every late afternoon 16.30pm to 17pm. I like doing Wii fit cycling & jogging. I also like doing the yoga & muscle strength exercises. I like the other exercises too…

I have got my resistance bands, leg magic, core master, Ab twister, trampoline, Wii fit +, core shaper, hand weights, ankle weights, Nordic walking poles…Also gardening, housework, decorating, walking…& rosemary Connelly exercise dvd’s…Oh! Yeah! I forgot my step to the beat Wii game…

Approximately 10 hours of exercise, drops 1 dress size/ 2 inches off my waist/tummy. Resistance/strength training will get faster results…30 x 20 minutes. 20 minutes = approximately 100-calories…So if a 3,500-calorie deficit drops 1 lb…Then there is muscle weight. Muscle uses more energy & takes up less space. So technically inch loss is more important to me…
