Where am I at?…

I have not blogged here in ages, but I thought it was time to start using this blog again…Where am I at, on my weight loss journey? Well I am learning lots & lots. The main one being ‘Diets don’t work’…Adding healthy foods, drinking more water, especially eating more vegetables & fruit…I have bought a soup maker, which is great. I get to eat lots of healthy, nutritious, tasty soup. It has also got a blender programme, so I get to drink healthy, nutritious, fruit smoothies too…

Where am I at, with my indoor garden? It is looking great. I love my indoor garden. Though it is going slow filling the whole house…

Where am I at, with my sub life? Well that is a on going source of confusion. Am I too old? Am I too fat? Am I past it? Do I even want to put my self through the drama & mayhem? The last one I’m sure about. No…Too much stress ‘In with calm, out with stress’…Eat more veg, spend time communing with my houseplants…

Then I go & start blogging with a friend. A friend I met in the so called scene. His reputation precedes him as well. In fact I think he could win the ‘Scenes most hated’ award. Would I come in second? Nah! I don’t think so…

I think I got myself into a situation. Now I am going from feelings of ‘Yeah! I can do this’ to absolute ‘DREAD!’…

I am going to stop there & go make some coffee…{Which has health benefits btw}

Ohh! Yes!…Before I go…I changed my blog name to ‘Sophisticated derriere’…Why? Because I like that name…

Nuff said for now…

Day? Focus On Weight Loss Healthy Me & sub me…

I am having a great time building a website with my friend. It is looking pretty amazing already. Or maybe that is just my opinion at the mo. I am combining my weight loss journey with my new sub me journey. It may not be kinky talking about veggies, mind you…………………………………………………

At the moment I feel empowered. I don’t want to shift all my focus onto my sub life & let my healthy eating, weight loss journey get forgotten about. So I’m combining the two. They do go together anyway. Also my self esteem & body image issues, after all my sub life is ‘attractive orientated’…I don’t for one minute believe that it is not, but this journey is all about me…

That said. There are people who find fuller figured women attractive. Though I don’t agree with the objectifying a woman as a fetish. The term BBW ‘Big beautiful woman’ is a positive term, but if you are left thinking ‘Soooo you think I’m fat?’…sorry, lol…

I did lose my confidence when I started to feel too old, too fat, too past it…Basically based on one man, not even a man I was in a relationship with. He did make me feel crap about myself, but then again I allowed him to effect me, because of my own insecurities. So he is a tad narrow minded & self absorbed, that is his problem…

Mind you I do have a tendency to get things into ‘logical perspective’ which can be quite hurtful, if I express my thoughts, so I keep my opinion to myself, otherwise ‘Wow!’ what a complete bitch…Its like my perspective of him. A lecherous, fat, unkempt, old man, old enough to be my father, lusting after young girls young enough to be his grand daughter…& his a retired social worker…Hmmm! See, best keep that sharp, cutting, opinion to myself…

So should I be forgiving? Of myself yes. My opinion still stands, just best kept hidden, lol…Seriously though. Where do you draw the line? Do you allow rudeness & thoughtless words to wash over you & act like you don’t care, but deep down it is having a slow acid effect, slowly breaking down your self esteem…but society says you should not care & you should not react ‘Positive thinking!’…

I believe in balance. Like yin & yang…

I do very much believe in positive thinking. I believe in the power of our mind. I know it sounds weird, but just by changing my thoughts to an image, it helps me deal with it. Rain water running through limestone. I was watching a documentary last night about sink holes, apparently rain is slightly acid & over time breaks through lime stone. Interesting stuff…

Well I am going to dilute these peoples acid words, there will be no more eroding my self esteem. I know, what am I going on about now, lol…

I am very interested in psychology. The way our mind works is so intriguing. One thing I have noticed, but should probably block out. There are sooo many prejudice people, its like they don’t think logically, or independently. Its like a video I shared on Facebook. I am going to say he is the opposite of ‘posh’, he has got no hair, shaves his head & he was using the F word quite a lot…but the words he used, the way he expressed his opinion, was intelligent, the majority would just label him as a thug, as ‘racist’ as a bigot…The majority would just think ‘well he must be’ Because they are not listening, or appreciating that we are all entitled to our own opinion…

I can’t control, or change these things, so I put them to the back of my mind…I can control & change my own thoughts, my own reactions. Also ‘negative people & their negative vibes’ I do tend to steer clear of places where these people reside. Unfortunately sometimes this means I miss out…

Nuff said for now…

Low Carb Eating Is Not All Deep Fat Fried Bacon…

Ummm! All that fuss about eating cake. I decided to work out my carbs. The 1/4 jam roly poly was 47g…’Gasp!’ I bet my blood sugar level sky rocketed, then all that insulin ‘tut-tut’…but…I ate under 90g of carbs, which is low, 100g carbs is low carb eating…

Though its best to get those carbs from healthy foods…NOT! cake…

Didyouknowdietstandfor-02

I decided to weigh myself as well. I was expecting my weight to be back up to where I started. It is under the 15st mark ‘Yeesss!’…I don’t want to weigh myself too often, I want to get myself into the right frame of mind for weighing & measuring. If I lose 5 lbs of fat & gain 5 lbs of muscle, I won’t be 5 lbs lighter, but I will be slimmer. Also muscle burns more calories then fat…

fat-vs-muscle-burn

Sometimes its easy to over look all the good things I am doing on my weight loss journey & focus on the so called bad. That cake was me eating sweet treats in moderation. I am going to start forgiving myself…

I was thinking of doing the induction phase of Atkins, then after 2 weeks building up my carbs 5g each week…but…I have decided that is too much like a diet. I am giving up dieting & changing my eating habits for life. I think 100g net carbs is low carb enough…

low-carb-food-pyramid

Its funny how aggressive & rude certain people get over ‘other people’ eating low carb…I was watching a youtube video of a woman who had been on a low carb diet for 6 months. Most of the comments were of rude people over reacting to her saying ‘High fat diet’…’ANIMAL FATS!!!  ‘arrrrggggghhhhh!!!…That is people for you…

Jeeze! Learn some manners people, talk about insulting…

Anyway…

effects-of-low-carb-diet

I think the stigma for low carb eating comes from the people who tried Atkins, but took the fry up’s a tad too far. Jeeze! There are other foods then bacon. There is ‘grilled’ food, including low starch veggies such as mushrooms. There is fish, chicken, turkey…

I watched a program about bad diets, of course the Atkins diet was on there, but the woman was deep fat frying bacon & living on deep fat fried, well bacon, eggs, sausage. No wonder she sweated bacon, when she was playing rugby…Chicken, fish, low starch veggies ‘Grill’…Sheesh!

Ignorance is not always bliss…

Its like the Atkins diet tv program. I wanted to slap her…OMFG! there was tears, there was craving cereal, there was head aches…Drink more water…Eat more variety. Do the research. Obviously the low fat & the cereal was not doing anything for her waist line. Its such a shame they always focus on the negatives when it comes to low carb…

LCBudget-2400x1600low-carb.png

Its like my friend. She’s really slim, eats healthy…but she’s the most unhealthy person I know. She’s always ill, she’s always going to hospital for yet more tests. Maaaybe she needs to start eating Paleo…

The only thing which puts me off eating paleo, is the ‘No dairy’…Though I can go no dairy. I drink black coffee, I don’t mind lemon in herbal tea. I could go with out cheese, but I like cheese…I’ll look into the paleo diet, I know it is one of the healthiest ways to eat. No grains, no dairy. Meat, poultry, fish, nuts, seeds, berries, vegetables, fruit, I think potatoes are debatable…but if a caveman had dug up a potatoe……

paleo-foods-paleo-food-list-paleo-diet-recipes

It does look quite restrictive…Also ‘wild meats’…surely any meat, poultry & fish, not just game…

Day Thirty – Darn Cake!

I ate cake ‘Ugh!’ at least the cream was low carb. Its weird. It is one tinsy bit of cake, but I feel like a HUGE! failure. I am working on this over reaction to a mere piece of cake on one day out of a life time of days. I will get my eating of ‘non diet food’ into proportion…

That was yesterday. After eating a reasonable amount of nutritious food all day, right up to the cake. I thought ‘Shall I weigh myself to see what the damage is’…IT IS A POXY BIT OF CAKE!…Jeeze!

The usual ‘I blew it, I might as well eat’ feeling did come over me, but I reminded myself that I am not on a diet, I am eating healthy, changing my ‘keeping me fat’ habits. This is a lifestyle change. One excess amount of carbs, does not have to turn me into a dust bin of PROPORTIONATE! excessive, out of control pick-pick-frigging picking…’Get a grip!’

…& breath

So I’m focusing on the cake. Which was a tiny piece, quite yummy, because I am not continuously stuffing sugar into my body. When other positive things happened. Like receiving 2 messages, 1 on Fetlife, the other on Bs {Aka british spanking} Apparently I am a breath of fresh air & my profile is impressive…Why thank you, kind sir!

I don’t want to rush in, just because 2 people liked my profile. I want to mull it over…After all my new accounts, are start over, not-tainted by my Ex Dom’s, especially my first Ex Dom, because he is quite a spiteful, malicious, vindictive person, he is obsessed with playing mind games. His Ex sub before me, or she was a few before me. She tried to warn me…but…I needed to find out for myself & I needed to get out of the emotionally abusive D/s relationship myself. Of course I done it in a spectacular, dramatic, unique way. Well he did keep push-push-pushing until I went over the edge & took him over with me…{That is a long blog story}

Anyway. When I am new, untainted, unknown, un-gossiped about. Just me…The blokes have not been warned off me, lol…I’m not exaggerating, they are a bunch of control freaks…Mister passive aggressive man, who was told from the off that I was not going to meet him, got all arsey because I would not meet him. Told me that he should have listened to the…Gossips? Back stabbers? Two faced bitches? I was OMFG! I’m right, I’m not paranoid after all. I thought it was me…

I feel SO! much resentment towards these nasty people. Its not like I done anything to deserve it, other then be in a D/s relationship with a narcissist, then be with one of the rare decent  Dom’s…{I won’t go into that}

…In with calm, out with stress…

Those are emotionally destructive feelings, only I get hurt by those feelings. So just let them go. Move on…carry on doing what I am doing, because it must be right. Please-please-please don’t let them bitches realise that it is me…

…In with calm, out with stress…Don’t eat cake!

Takes a deep calming breath…

Meditation. I need to meditate more, its great. I need to visualise more, I know that is helpful…

I was doing lots of research on low carb eating. I learned lots of helpful stuff…I also learned that if I go for a 15 minute walk after eating, the blood sugar spike, which needs insulin to deal with the excess sugar, which means storing the sugar as fat…well the excess sugar will be used by my muscles. High protein builds muscle, or helps build more muscle; muscle burns more calories, it also uses glucose ‘Sugar!’…I am so going to make the effort to do this…

Exercise to use the excess sugar, so my body does not need to store it as fat…The thing is…even if you are on a strict diet, if your blood sugar spikes, you are still going to produce insulin & your body is still going to store excess sugar as fat…

Low carb dieting is great for balancing your hormones, it is especially good for balancing your blood sugar…If I buy low carb foods & aim to eat low carb foods ‘NO! cake’…I am going to have more muscle building protein, less processed junk…& many more health benefits…

Apparently eating a low carb diet, can improve sleep. Which I need. I went to bed before midnight, but fell asleep about 1am & woke up at 5am. A mere 4 hours sleep. No wonder I have bags under my eyes & deep shadows…Ugh!

Nuff said for now…

Day Twenty Seven – Do Protein Shakes Help You Lose Weight? – Low Carb Dieting…

“Yaaay!” A successful ‘I never lost control & binged’ diet day. I done some gardening, which must have burned some calories, the sweat was pouring off me. I am digging & moving my plants into pots…

I am going to do more gardening today, when the rain stops & its not so windy. Its creepy in my garden when its windy, the palm tree next door makes a horrible crackling noise…

Last night that diet mentality ‘Body image’ issue reared its aggravating fat head. I gave myself a pep talk. Diets don’t work, healthy eating works. If I eat 1500-calories each day, I will lose weight fast, but my leptin levels will drop & ghrelin levels will rise. I will stop losing weight & start craving food. It would not be my fault {Though of course I would blame myself, for not being able to stick to a diet}

I looked at meal replacement shakes. I love iced coffee. So I could have latte flavour for Breakfast-Lunch-Supper & a calorie counted meal for dinner…but…Been there done that, did not lose weight, I probably gained for daring to semi starve my body. All those carbs in those meal replacement shakes, sending my blood sugar sky high & then once the insulin comes out to find places to store the excess sugar as fat, it plummets back down, leaving me craving more food…

I just thought. How about protein shakes? Or protein in smoothies?

Oo! What’s this…

Carb killa? As in carb blocker? Mind you it is £2.49…but then again if it is replacing a meal. I am going to read up on this shake…

Interesting…Especially as protein makes you feel fuller for longer…What are the ingredients?

Water, Skimmed Milk (27%), Milk Protein Powder (7%), Cream (Milk) (5%), Chocolate Powder (2.1%) (Alkalised Cocoa Powder, Sugar), Stabilisers: Gellan Gum, Carrageenan; Sweeteners: Acesulfame K, Sucralose; Salt, Natural Flavourings.

Protein builds muscle mass. Muscle burns more calories…Protein does not cause a blood sugar spike, so no insulin coming out to store the excess sugar as fat…

I need to do more research…

I know low carb eating is good for weight loss, I also have no hunger pangs, or food cravings…but what about the life style change? Will I regain all the weight as soon as I stop low carb dieting? Then again I can add 5g carbs at a time, to see if I am still losing, maintaining & if I gain go back down to the grams of carbs where I maintained. That is once I have lost the weight…

I do enjoy low carb foods. I enjoy eating meat, poultry, fish, eggs, cream, butter, olive oil, mayonnaise, coleslaw, cheese, spinach, mushrooms, avocado, other low carb veg, strawberries, other low carb fruits…I can have low sugar jelly with double cream, cream in my coffee, strawberries & cream…There are many low carb foods…

Last night I was thinking seriously about my sub life…That is another post I will write later…

Eating Soup – Weight Loss…

“Mmmm!” I had my Thai carrot soup, with a table spoon of linseed/flax seed with pumpkin seeds & goji berries & two slices of bread. I feel full, satisfied full…

Carrotsinfographic1-700x525

I was thinking about making my own soup. That way it won’t have any additives or preservatives. I want to try the onion, garlic, peppers grandma soup. I think the recipe is on Tesco’s recipe site…

By Jack Challoner

In the battle to lose weight, hunger is the dieter’s worst enemy. But research has revealed a simple aid to taming the appetite: soup. It’s dieting’s best kept secret says one science writer.

I do feel quite full, though the bread would fill me up, so would the added fibre from the tablespoon of linseed/flax seed…

Imagine a typical lunchtime meal – say, chicken and vegetables with a glass of water.

If you eat the food and drink the water, you will feel full for a couple of hours before hunger kicks in. But if you blend the food with the water – to make soup – you will stay hunger-free for much longer, and less likely to snack through the afternoon.

Which helps prevent me going into picking at sugary junk mode. Though now, I just don’t want to pick at sugary junk. I want to be healthy, I want to be slim. I want to improve the quality of my life…

How can blending the food into soup make such a difference?

BBC NEWS | Magazine | How soup can help you lose weight

When you eat the same meal as a soup, the whole mixture remains in the stomach, because the water and food are blended together. The scientists’ scans confirm that the stomach stays fuller for longer, staving off those hunger pangs.

BBC NEWS | Magazine | How soup can help you lose weight

The key to this low-tech weapon against hunger is a hormone called ghrelin. It is one of the major players in the body’s appetite system.

I am definitely going to be eating more soup. Sometimes I would like to buy more expensive soup, but don’t bother, thinking it is not good value for money, but it is in the long term, when it satisfies your taste buds & keeps you fuller for longer, saving on all the empty calorie, unhealthy snacks, which will spike your blood sugar level & cause your body to store the excess sugar as fat…

Day Twenty One – End Of Week Three – Self Hypnosis – Four Golden Rules ‘I can make you thin’…

“Yaaay!” A successful diet day twenty. It is the dreaded week three weigh day tomorrow. As usual I am dreading it. Though I have been eating a lot less, a lot healthier & doing more exercise. I will weigh & measure myself tomorrow, with out putting any high expectations on myself…

Stay the same ‘happy I never gained’…Lose 0.25 lb ‘happy I am going in the right direction’. Any loss will be fantastically, fabulously, amazing. There will be NO! disappointment, noooo! feeling disheartened. NO! I know I am doing the right thing for my health & fitness. I trust my body to eventually balance itself & catch up. I am basically maintaining my ideal weight/size in advance…

Mum, 37, sheds five stone thanks to hypnosis app: ‘I never dreamed it would be so easy’

Really? I need to read this article…

Personally I think it come down to the power of her own mind. She really wanted to drop the weight & she believed the hypnosis was helping her. It probably took away the self doubt, which can lead to self sabotage…

“I would recommend Easy Loss to anyone – but I think you need to really want to do it. If you have that goal and really want it to work, then it will…”

I do listen to self hypnosis. I also follow the Paul McKenna ‘I can make you thin’ 4 golden rules. I eat when I am hungry, but use intermittent fasting as a safety net. By the time 13pm is here, I am truly hungry, but not famished…I am finding that I no longer feel the need to eat after 20pm. Eventually I will change my intermittent fasting times to 18:6…At the moment I am 14:10, but I don’t always want to eat after 20pm…

I feel in control of my eating. I am taking full responsibility for what goes in my mouth. I do not need to stuff my face all day long, into the early hours. Last night {Well this morning} I went to bed at 4am, feeling ‘Ugh!’…I had a really dry throat, even though I drank a glass of water, my stomach hurt & I felt nauseous…but I think it was more being over tired then actual hunger. Just emotional ‘Change the way I feel’ hunger. I did not give into it, I went to bed & eventually fell asleep {Groans!} I need to sort my sleeping out, but I have had this since I was born, all through my childhood, basically forever…

The second golden ‘I can make you thin’ rule, is to eat what you want to eat, not what you think you should eat. In other words listen to your body, when you listen to your body & trust it will make healthy choices. It is quite liberating. Yesterday I went to buy my daily sugar treat, but I didn’t fancy it, I fancied soup with bread. Thai carrot soup. It was scrumptious…& healthier. The second golden rule was a sticking point for me in the past. After all ‘Of course I want sweets, cake, chocolate, biscuits, takeaway, etc…’ Not anymore…

I want to be healthy, slim, fit, feel more attractive; a lot more then I want to eat sugar junk all day & have take away instead of a healthy home cooked meal from scratch..I realised how crappy the takeaway food was anyway. You cant beat home made chips, using fry light. I don’t see how people can think the fried cardboard & salty, greasy tasteless food, which cost LOTS! of money can be better. Mind you gourmet burgers…Yum! That reminds me. Minted lamb burgers. I can make my own…

Maaaybe it was the self hypnosis which changed my mind ‘For the better’ about food. Its like someone flipped a switch inside me & I saw the light, in the light was lots of healthy, tasty, satisfying food. Constantly eating sugar, so my blood sugar level spiked high, then dropped low, was keeping me fat. My body needed to produce insulin all the time, to deal with the sugar. Of course it stored the sugar as fat…

The third rule, eating slowly & consciously. I know of course you’ll conscious…but are you? When you are mindlessly speed eating, whilst watching tele. I have slowed my eating right down. I do chew my food right down before swallowing…but…The tele is on in the evening. I still concentrate on my food though. Especially when I can savour every mouthful & not just taste greasy, salty nothingness, which is processed food. It opens your taste buds as well as your mind…

The fourth rule. Which is pretty much ‘Duh! Common sense’…Has not always been ‘common sense’…especially with the mindless eating…Rule # 4 ‘STOP!’ eating when you feel full. Satisfied full. Not bloated. stuffed, feel nauseous full. Just that first twinge of fullness. I can leave food on my plate. My parents aren’t there to lecture me & make me stay at the table until I have cleared the plate…I have never forced my kids to clear their plate, or to eat food they don’t like…I no longer have a bloated feeling after eating. When I look down, now I see my boobs, not my stomach protruding like I am 9 months pregnant with tripplets…

Oops! Its 14 minutes into my eating time. I thought I felt hungry. Actual hunger. Hunger to nourish my body. No mindless stuffing. I am not a dustbin. I don’t need a constant supply of sugar to get me through the day…

Lunch time…

The Health Benefits Of Linseed/Flaxseed – A Good Food To Help Me On My Weight Loss Journey…

It is nearly 3am. I can’t sleep. I had a few hours sleep, but then the heavy rain & thunder woke me up. So I thought I would do some blogging. Yesterday I set my new fitness tracker to 5000 steps. Which meant I done an extra 15 minutes walk, to reach my 5k step target. I am going to stick to 5k steps for a week or so, then increase my target to 6k…

Eventually I want to do 15k each day. Yesterday I bought some linseed with pumpkin seeds & goji berries, which I mixed with my over night oats. They have got lots of health benefits…

1. High in Fibre, but Low in Carbs

One of the most extraordinary benefits of flax seeds is that they contain high levels of mucilage gum content. A  Mucilage is a gel-forming fibre that is water soluble and has incredible benefits on the intestinal tract.

The mucilage can keep food in the stomach from emptying too quickly into the small intestine which can increase nutrient absorption.

Also, flax is extremely high in both soluble and insoluble fibre which can support colon detoxification, fat loss and reduce sugar cravings.

You should aim to consume 30-40 g of high fibre foods daily.

I remember how good for dieting eating fibre is. Linseed/flax seed is high in fibre, so a good, tasty choice…

2. Healthy Skin and Hair

If you want healthier skin, hair and nails then consider adding 2 tbsp. of flax seeds to your smoothie or 1 tbsp. of flax seed oil to your daily routine.

The ALA fats in flax seeds benefits the skin and hair by providing essential fats as well as b-vitamins which can help reduce dryness and flakiness. It can also improve symptoms of acne, rosacea, and eczema. This also applies to eye health as flax can reduce dry eye syndrome.

Flax seed oil is another great option since it has an even higher concentration of healthy fats. You can take 1-2 tbsp. internally to hydrate skin and hair. & It can also be mixed with essential oils and used as a natural skin moisturizer.

3. Weight Loss

A study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that flaxseeds and walnuts may improve obesity and support weight loss.

Since flax is full of healthy fats and fibre, it will help you feel satisfied longer so you will eat fewer calories overall which may lead to weight loss. ALA fats may also help reduce inflammation.

This is important for weight loss in that an inflamed body will tend to hold on to excess weight. Add a couple of teaspoons of ground flaxseed to soups, salads, or smoothies as part of your weight loss plan.

I have issues with inflammation…so eating linseed/flaxseed with my over night oats, will give me lots of added health benefits…

4. Lower Cholesterol

The journal of Nutrition and Metabolism found that adding flax seeds into your diet can naturally reduce cholesterol levels.

The soluble fibre content of flax seeds trap fat and cholesterol in the digestive system so that it unable to be absorbed. Soluble fibre also traps bile, which is made from cholesterol in the gallbladder.

The bile is then excreted through the digestive system, forcing the body to make more, using up excess cholesterol in the blood and lowering cholesterol overall.

5. Flaxseeds are Gluten-Free

Using flax is a great way to naturally replace gluten-containing grains which are inflammatory where flax is anti-inflammatory &  So, flax seeds are great for those who have Celiac disease or have a gluten-sensitivity. They may also be a good alternative to omega-3 fats in fish for people with a seafood allergy.

Another great aspect of flax being gluten-free is that it can be used as a grain-free option in cooking & can often used along with coconut flour in baking at home.

6. Flaxseeds are High in Antioxidants (Lignans)

Amongst its other incredible nutrition facts, flax seeds are also packed with antioxidants. Lignans are unique fibre-related polyphenols that provide us with antioxidant benefits for anti-aging, hormone balance and cellular health.

Polyphenols support the growth of probiotics in the gut and may also help eliminate yeast and candida in the body.

Lignans are also known for their anti-viral and antibacterial properties, therefore consuming flax regularly may help reduce the number or severity of colds and flus.

Wow! Definitely a super food…I have heard that taking a probiotic daily is really beneficial to your health…

7. Digestive Health

Maybe the biggest flax seed benefits come from its ability to promote digestive health. The ALA in flax can help protect the lining of the digestive tract and maintain GI health. It has been shown to be beneficial for people suffering from Crohns disease or other digestive ailments, as it can help reduce gut inflammation.

You can also take 1-3 tbsp. of flax seed oil with 8 oz of carrot juice to help naturally relieve constipation.

Flax is also very high in soluble and insoluble fibre which can also improve digestive health and is one of the highest magnesium foods in the world.

Two tablespoons of flaxseeds contains about 5 g of fibre or 1/4 of the RDA. The fibre found in flaxseeds provides food for friendly bacteria in your colon that can help cleanse waste from your system.

8. Flax Seeds for Cancer

Flax seed benefits have been proven time and time again and even including fighting breast, prostate, ovarian and colon cancer.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical Cancer Research discovered that consuming flax seeds may decrease the risk of breast cancer. The three lignans found in flaxseeds can be converted by intestinal bacteria into enter lactone  and enterodiol which naturally balance hormones which may be the reason flax seeds reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Another study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that the lignans in flaxseeds may also reduce the risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer.

9. High in Omega-3 Fatty Acids

We hear a lot about the health benefits of fish oil or omega-3 fats. Fish oil contains EPA and DHA, two omega-3 fats that are critical for optimal health. Although flaxseeds do not contain EPA or DHA, they do contain ALA, another type of omega-3 fat.

A study published in Nutrition Reviews has shown that approximately 20% of ALA can be converted into EPA, but only .5% of ALA is converted into DHA. Also, surprisingly gender may play a big role in conversion where young women had a 2.5-fold greater rate than men.

Regardless of conversion, ALA is still considered a healthy fat and should be included in a balanced diet.

10. Menopausal Symptoms

The lignans in the flax have been shown to have benefits for menopausal women. It can be used as an alternative to hormone replacement therapy because lignans do have estrogenic properties.

These properties may also help reduce the risk of osteoporosis. It can even help menstruating women by helping maintain cycle regularity.

To experience the flax seed benefits for your hormones include 1-2 tbsp. of flax meal in a breakfast smoothie along with 1 tbsp. of flax seed oil.

I bought the Linseed/flaxseed for the fibre, but there are so many other health benefits. Especially for inflammation & estrogen…

The Health Benefits Of Cream – Dispelling The Good Food Bad Food Myth…

That diet mentality again…Which I am training my mind to get over…The good & bad ‘diet’ friendly foods. The foods I deprive myself of whilst dieting, but I actually like those foods, so when I fail a diet, due to eating ‘bad’ unfriendly diet food, I eat all the so called bad foods, like cream for instance…

Cream has got health benefits, its not like it is a high sugar, processed food. It might be high-ish in fat & calories, but…

  • Eye health- The presence of Vitamin A helps to promote the vision health. It assists eyes to adapt the changes of light, promotes the night vision and makes the eyes moist. It maintains the retina health and prevents the chances of night blindness by raising human eye’s adaptability to the darkness as well as bright light. It reduces the chances of macular degeneration and cataracts which is related to aging. It is helpful for the glaucoma patients.

That is cream, not carrots…

  • Assist growth-Vitamin B2 is essential for the development and growth of the tissues such as eyes, skin, mucous membranes, connective tissue, immune system, nervous system and reproductive organs. Moreover, it promotes the health of the skin, hair and nails.

So that tiny bit of double cream I put in my coffee, is not a ‘BAD!’ diet food. It is actually quite beneficial to my health. Just don’t go into cream over load…In moderation! Everything in ‘Moderation!’…

  • Form bones- Phosphorus is essential for the growth of bones as well as teeth. It assists calcium for the formation of strong bones. It enhances the gum health and tooth enamel. It provides relief from the serious ailments such as loss of mineral density or bone loss. The studies also shows that it is associated with heart health so the adequate intake of phosphorus prevents from the cardiovascular ailments.

I am beaming with self righteous ‘Diet goddess’ -ness!

Remove from the ‘BAD!’ list – Check! Put on the ‘In moderation, don’t add cake’ list -Check!

  • Kidney stones- Kidney stones are regarded as the crystallized deposits of minerals and calcium in the urinary tract. The study shows that high intake of calcium lowers the chances of kidney stones. The dietary calcium is not the cause for kidney stones but excessive present of minerals in water is the cause for kidney stones. The high intake of leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale and low intake of fluid might result in kidney stones.

So you can eat a ton of greens. Which are considered the ultimate in ‘Good!’ diet food, but if you don’t drink enough fluid, you might get kidney stones…Hence ‘Keep hydrated!’…Ohh! & add cream to your healthy eating diet. It is not a bad diet food…A calorie is a calorie & you should have more calories out, then in, but ‘In moderation!’ For taste, why not…

Bad diet foods are ‘fat free’…’low fat’…processed food…

  • Reduce stress- Pantothenic acid helps to reduce the stress and mental problems such as depression, anxiety and assist in mind fitness. It helps to regulate the hormones which are the cause for these mental conditions.

Wow! All that from cream…

  • Enhance immunity- Vitamin A promotes the immunity power to counteract infections by raising the response of lymphocytic opposite to antigens.  It moist the mucus membrane to promote the immunity and promotes the white blood cells activity. It prevents and fights the germs as well as infections.

It gets better & better…

  • Production of RBC- Riboflavin is required in order to form the red blood cells as well as antibodies in the humans that assist in oxygenation and circulation of the organs in the body.

I am going to start searching for so called bad diet foods & find out about their nutritional value…Foods like cheese, wine, etc…

  • Brain health- Phosphorus is present in the brain cells which is liable for all the essential functions. The adequate amount of phosphorus ensures the functions, development and cognitive growth. The studies are associated with deficiency of phosphorus enhance the chances of cognitive malfunctions, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Wow! My brain health is more important to me, then cutting out all so called ‘Bad!’ diet foods. Why replace cream for artificial, light stuff, which has no nutritional value, when you can have all the health benefits from the real thing. Just eat less…

  • Depression- The presence of calcium in adequate amounts lowers the chances of premenstrual symptoms such as mood swings, dizziness and hypertension. The low amount of mineral promotes the release of hormones which is liable for the irritability as well as depression.

I used to suffer from PMT…& depression, but I taught myself how to deal with the triggers. Emotional eating was a real issue for me…

  • Hair health- Protein maintains the health of the hair and prevents it from damage. The studies show that protein plays a vital role in the growth of hair. Due to this protein is used in the production of conditioners and other hair care products.

I know my hair improves a lot when I eat low carb…

Day Seventeen – Doting Nana – Thinking Of Going Cave Nana Style…

“Yaaay!” A successful day sixteen. Which more then made up for the minor mishap on day fifteen. I stopped eating & drinking calories, carb’s, fat, etc…after 20pm. Mind you I did not enjoy my dinner. I had onion, bacon, cheese omelette & home made chips, oven cooked with fry light. It just didn’t fill me with edible joy…

We borrowed our grand daughter to take shopping with us & walked a bit extra over the park. I wanted to get some pond weed to put in my mini patio pond, but it was too far from the edge, I got down on a rock, but had visions of me face planting in the pond, so decided to get back up. Hubby was like ‘There too many people around’…

It was lovely taking our grand daughter out. I was the doting Nana; kept watching her sleep, all relaxed, pink sun hat on…she is so adorable, I love her with all my heart, just like I loved my children. I get the adoring, doting on your grand children, but not the… ‘They’re better then your children’…the ‘Your children are the rainbow, but your grand children are the pot of gold’…”Eh?”…

Yes its great I can give her cuddles, play with her, then hand her back, all of the pleasure, none of the stress. I love seeing my daughter with her, I never realised I could feel anymore love then when I see my daughter with her daughter, I’m brimming with pride. Seeing my other kids with their niece, gives me a wonderful feeling as well…

Anyway…Doting Nana is going to stop swooning over her precious little grand daughter, until the next time…

When she starts walking, I will be there to take her for walks in the woods, run around with a ball, play on the beach. I am going to be a active part of her life. Not Nana on the settee, with the lap top which plays her favourite Dave & Ava nursery rhythm’s. I don’t have to be super flexi Nana, I can play with her when sitting, but I want to take her for walks…

I am trying my hardest to drop old habits & gain new habits. So I am getting myself into a routine. Which is intermittent fasting 13pm {Earliest} to 23pm {Latest} 14:10, but I’m flexible. Like last night I stopped eating by 20pm, so 17 hours fasting, giving my digestive system a rest, allowing my body to focus its energy on repair, rather then digesting food…

Intermittent fasting releases the growth hormone…

What is human growth hormone?

The body naturally produces growth hormone (HGH or simply GH) in the pituitary gland, and, as its name implies, it is responsible for cell growth and regeneration. Increasing muscle mass and bone density are impossible without GH, but it also plays a major role in maintaining the health of all human tissue, including that of the brain and other vital organs. When secreted, GH remains active in the bloodstream for only a few minutes, but this is enough time for the liver to convert it into growth factors, the most crucial of which is insulin-like growth factor-1, or IGF-1, which boasts a host of anabolic properties.

When I was continuously picking, my body was not able to release the growth hormone quite so easily, if ever & my digestive system never got a rest. I doubt cavemen & women ate continuously, unless they grazed on berries, nuts, roots, plants, etc…They were hunter gatherers…

If I ever get cancer, I am not going to have any chemotherapy…I will start eating paleo. The paleo diet is the best diet to starve the cancer cells. No sugar. No grains. No dairy. After last night when my stomach started hurting & bloated. I wonder ‘Have I got cancer?’…Is it worth going to the doctor’s? Or should I make the effort to start following the paleo diet?…

I like meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, herb’s & spices…but no dairy, no grains, no potatoes, though some say you can eat potatoes…

My Mum had bowl cancer & liver cancer & cancer in her lymph glands…Should I wait? Or should I start eating a paleo diet???

Ummm! What about coffee & red wine. I’m sure as hell certain cavemen & women, never had coffee beans or thought of fermenting berries, lol…

I will continue…First I need coffee…
