Day Fourteen – End Of Week Two – So Many Changes For The Good In Just Two Weeks…

“Yeesss!” The end of another successful week. Week two weigh day tomorrow. I have got the usual feeling of dread…but…I will not give up, or change anything. Because I am confident I am doing the right thing with my diet. I just need to keep going…

Persistence! That is the key to success…

The intermittent fasting is really helping me a lot. It allows me {My mind} to focus on ‘I can eat now’ & ‘I can’t eat now’ instead of obsessing about food…For 14 hours I can’t eat, so I focus on other things to do with my weight loss journey. I feel in control of what I am eating…

Last night I had a slight twinge of ‘I want to eat’…but I just thought ‘No! I am not giving up on this diet, I am determined to succeed’…I also had one of my night terror’s last night, well this morning. I woke up ‘SCREAMING!!! hysterically. My night terrors started when I was 10 years old. I am 48 years old now…They are a lot fewer & in between, but still there…

Why? Why did I have a night terror. I don’t even remember dreaming, I usually have vivid dreams which I can remember. Other times I would see a black figure looming over me, it felt like I was being attacked. I know that is a common phenomena…

Anyway…Back to my weight loss journey…

Time flies by. Its like one night we’re watching Dr Who…Zooooom!…Ohh! Its Dr Who night again. Where did that time go? Maybe time travel, lol…Seriously though. Time flies. So this time when I look back over the time between now & Christmas…Yes Christmas is coming soon…I am going to see the amazing results from May 10th ‘The start of my weight loss journey’ to December 10th…7 months, which is my guestimate of how long it will take me to drop 14 inches from my waist/tummy. 2 inches have gone already & that is in 2 weeks…

I believe in the power of our own mind…Apparently you should set your mind a time frame, give your mind instructions {Or words to that effect} I am not leaving the time limit to reach my desired 30 inch waist out there in the wind. It could end up taking me years to reach that destined goal…Sounds crazy, I know…

I am going to drop at least 0.5″ off my waist/tummy each week. Though so far I have dropped an inch off my waist/tummy ‘Woooo!’…I am going to keep on eating the way I am eating. Intermittent fasting 14:10. Cutting right down on the sugary junk food. I am eating a healthy, balanced diet of real food, not junk food…

Mind you. Its hubby’s turn to pick dinner tonight…He is still in healthy eating training. I bet he want’s cheese, onion & tomatoe omelette, with home made chips. His favourite healthy eating meal…

As I was saying about the power of our own mind. You do have to believe what you are thinking. I believe that I can drop at least 0.5″ per week. I believe that cutting out the sugar & processed junk is the key to improving my health. I am right. It is…I have less pain & I am less breathless; the inches are dropping off. I am getting fitter & healthier every day…

I am no longer willing to allow myself to hold myself back. YES! dieting does not work…but ‘Healthy eating!’ does. Literally with in day’s. I felt the benefits of cutting out picking on high sugar junk food, with in days. Its not like your body has to wait for months of effort to change…

That also goes for semi starvation diets. Your body goes into famine mode. You have to eat calories to burn fat, but healthy calories, not so called empty calories. How many nutrients did I get from the twirl I ate with my coffee? Ohh! Cocoa beans…A minute amount, plus a few teaspoons of sugar. So my blood sugar went up, gave me a short ‘Very short’ buzz, then ‘Plummeting blood sugar’ & a NEED! for another artificial fix. All the while my body has to deal with the excess sugar…My poor digestive system…

Water fasting for healing my body – The 5 stages of water fasting…

I am contemplating doing a water fast, to heal my body, but it would be something I would have to really get my head around…

The common stages of water fasting

Stage 1 (Day1-2)
On the first day of fasting, the blood Sugar level drops below 70mg/dl. To restore the blood to the normal glucose level, liver glycogen is converted to glucose and released into the blood. This reserve is enough for a half day. The body then reduces the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The rate of internal chemical activity in resting tissue is lowered to conserve energy. The heart slows and blood pressure is reduced. Glycogen is pulled from the muscle causing some weakness. The first wave of cleansing is usually the worst.
Headaches, dizziness, nausea, bad breath, glazed eyes and a heavily coated tongue are signs of the first stage of cleansing. Hunger can be the most intense in this period.

The first few days will be the hardest to get through. That is the time which will need more will power. Or self hypnosis, isochronic tones ‘imagination’…Though it will probably be like having flu, but my body will be detoxing, cleansing itself…

Stage 2 (Day 3 to 7)
Fats, composed of transformed fatty acids, are broken down to release glycerol from the glyceride molecules and are converted to glucose. The skin may become oily as rancid oils are purged from the body. People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or even a boil. A pallid complexion is also a sign of waste in the blood.

Lots of bathes, showers, body scrubs, body lotions, facial cleanser for sensitive skin. I have got very sensitive skin…

Ketones are formed by the incomplete oxidation of fates. It is suspected that the ketones in the blood suppress the appetite by affecting the food-satiety centre in the hypothalamus called the appestat. You may feel hungry for the first few days of the fast. This effect is temporary. The desire to eat will disappear. Lack of hunger may last 40-60 days.

I am going to eat low carb before I start my 30 day ‘healing’ water fast. That way my body will change from burning glucose, to burning fat, cutting out the changing over stage. When I eat low carb 20g carbs, I have no hunger pangs or food cravings. So cutting out food will be a doddle…

The body embraces the fast and the digestive system is able to take a much-needed rest, focusing all of its energies on cleansing organs and the lungs are in the process of being repaired. Periodically, the lymphatic system expels mucoid matter through the nose or throat. The volume excreted of this yellow-coloured mucus can be shocking. The sinuses go through periods of being clogged, then will totally clear.

I have breathing issues. My lung capacity is 250. Which is very low. My Dad has emphysema & his is 450 {Though that is since he moved to Lincolnshire}

The breath is still foul and the tongue coated. Within the intestine, the colon is being repaired and impacted faeces on the intestinal wall start to loosen and are autolyzed.

Oo! What fun…’Eeewww!’…but if it means healing my body completely, I will deal with it…

Stage 3 (Day 8 to 15)
On the latter part of an extended fast, you can experience enhanced energy, clear-mindedness and feel better than you have felt since childhood, On the downside, old injuries may become irritated and painful. This is a result of the body’s increased ability to heal during fasting. If you had broken your arm 10 yrs before, there is scar tissue around the break. At the time of the break, the body’s ability to heal was directly related to lifestyle. If you lived on a junk food diet, the body’s natural ability to heal was diminished.

Ummm! I am going to be in lots of pain. Especially my stomach…

During fasting, the body’s healing process is at optimum efficiency. As the body scours for dead or damaged tissue, the lymphocytes enter the older-damaged tissue secreting substances to dissolve the damaged cells. These substances irritate the nerves in the surrounding region and cause a reoccurrence of aches from previously injured areas that may have disappeared years earlier. The pain lasts as the body is completing the healing process. The muscles may become tight and sore due to toxin irritation. The legs can be the worst affected as toxins accumulate in the legs. Cankers are common in this stage due to the excessive bacteria in the mouth.

Ummm! I will get some Listerine mouth wash & saline solution. Also raise my legs up & do lots of massaging in body lotion, to improve my circulation. I will use my rebounder for a few minutes each day. Rebounding is very good for your lymphatic system…

Stage 4 (Day 16 to 30)
The body is completely adapted to the fasting process. There is more energy and clarity of mind. Cleansing periods can be short with many days of feeling good in between. There are days when the tongue is pink and the breath is fresh. The healing work of the organs is being completed. After the detoxification mechanisms have removed the causative agent or renders it harmless; the body works at maximum capacity in tissue proliferation to replace damaged tissue.

While a short fast will reduce the symptoms, a longer fast can completely heal.

Homeostatic balance is at optimum levels. The lymphatic system is clean except for a rare discharge of mucus through the nose or throat. After day 20, the mind is affected with heightened clarity and emotional balance. Memory and concentration improve.

Stage 5(Day 30 to ?)
(Breaking the Fast with the genuine return of Natural Hunger) Shelton.
The Breath, which during all or most of the fast has been offensive, becomes sweet and clean.
The Tongue becomes clean. The thick coating which remained on it throughout most of the fast vanishes.
The Temperature, which may have been sub-normal or above normal, returns to exactly normal, where it remains.
The Pulse becomes normal in time and rhythm.
The Skin reactions and other reactions become normal.
The Bad Taste in the mouth ceases.
Salivary Secretion becomes normal.
The Eyes become bright and eye sight improves.
The Excreta loses its odour. The Urine becomes light.

The primary indication that the fast is to be broken is the return of hunger; all the other indications are secondary. Often one or more of these secondary signs are absent when hunger returns, but one should not refrain from breaking the fast when there is an unmistakable demand for food, merely because the tongue, for example, is not clean. Inasmuch as all the signs do not invariably appear in each case, do not hesitate to break the fast when hunger returns.

I am aiming for 30 days to completely heal my body…
